Our Facebook feed has been abuzz about the recent videos released from the Center for Medical Progress showing employees from multiple Planned Parenthood locations taking meetings with (fake) buyers of "tissue" and "specimen" of human aborted babies. We understand there are many sides to the medical discussion of research and we know there are a myriad of scenarios of why doctors would have access to the unborn body regardless of abortion or selling the pieces for profit. CFLS is not in a position to argue how much video editing occurred or how many abortion clinics operate with unethical practices, but the importance of transparency of abortion practices is a huge part of what we do as we seek to inform women of the beautiful alternative to abortion, which is adoption, and the truth that even though abortion is currently the popular choice doesn’t make it the right choice. Our hearts are torn to see images of body parts of aborted children, and the facts that we are most concerned about receiving attention are these:
Regardless of your political stance and your views of the variety of healthcare options for women, we pray that there is accountability and further scrutiny of the practices of abortion services of such a large organization that receives so much government funding in a time when other government aid (The Affordable Care Act) is supposed to make most women’s health services more accessible. Our government funds about 500 million dollars a year to Planned Parenthood (CNN - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-zTDk1WtG4; 3:03 min) and despite the director touting the many other services they provide (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khtQQ-xA-18), some of the questions about these unethical practices are avoided and the response of the organization as whole seems to belittle the issue to a ridiculous effort of “the most militant wing of the anti-abortion movement” (same video 0:13). We believe that not all of those who are interesting in bringing this issue to light fit in that box, but rather hopeful that injustices done to the human race (even the unborn) receive the media attention necessary. There is a lot to research you could do into a variety of news sources, and this can be overwhelming to consider the grand scale of our fallen world. Consider today ways that we as individuals can make an impact in our community to affect the lives of those around us in a positive way.

We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:22-26
